What we support
Adaxa works with the Compiere family of open-source ERP products, specifically ADempiere, iDempiere and Ampere. Here's how they all relate, and which one tends to suit which situation.
ADempiere: the community owned ERP
Compiere was the first open-source ERP system built to provide comparable functionality to a commercial ERP. When the Compiere company was acquired and moved away from its original open-source focus, a group of existing users and implementers (including Adaxa) chose to create a community owned version called ADempiere. ADempiere provides a solid base of ERP functionality that has served many businesses around the world ever since.
We can help when:
- ✓You already run ADempiere and need experienced support.
- ✓You're planning a migration off ADempiere and want help doing it carefully.
iDempiere: active and growing
iDempiere is the most active open-source descendant of Compiere, with an engaged community and regular releases built on top of a modernised plugin architecture. It's a good choice if you want to stay up to date with the latest contributions and an ever-expanding array of plugins from many organisations.
Best fit when:
- ✓You'd rather stick close to the version with the largest community of users than pursue a more customised approach.
- ✓You'd like to contribute back, or work directly with other users and integrators over time.
- ✓Your team is happy keeping up with iDempiere's release schedule.
Ampere: our take
Ampere is Adaxa's version of ADempiere, trimmed down to make it lighter to deploy and more agile to develop against, and pre-configured for Australian businesses. We built it for our own users as we found that the enormous depth of functionality supported by ADempiere and iDempiere could sometimes prove an obstacle to getting things done quickly.
Ampere is still open-source: customers can read the code, extend it, or walk away with their system at any time. It's usually our suggested starting point for new implementations because it allows you to get up and running sooner. We also track and incorporate enhancements from ADempiere and iDempiere while continuing to work with both communities.
Makes sense when:
- ✓You want to benefit from the localised features we've already built.
- ✓You'd prefer a simpler implementation pathway over the complexity of having everything plus the kitchen sink.
